The Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE) is pleased to announce the Summer School on Enabling Applications on Parallel Architectures based on Intel® Many Integrated Core (MIC), organized by CINECA in Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna), Italy.
This four day intensive event  will focus on programming and optimisation techniques for modern parallel systems based on Intel MIC architecture. The school covers key topics such as the Intel MIC Architecture, multi- and many-core programming techniques, the Intel programming environment Intel scientific libraries, SIMD/vectorization and code optimization. Experiences on porting applications on MIC architectures will also be presented
Hands-on sessions on the CINECA EURORA prototype will allow the participants to consolidate the topics and test their own codes. The EURORA prototype is a hybrid cluster composed of 64  Intel Sandy Bridge dual socket nodes (1024 cores in total), equipped with 64 MIC processors  and 64 NVIDIA K20 accelerators.

The school is offered free of charge to students and academics residing in PRACE member states. Some grants are available for participants not funded by their institution and not coming from the area of the school location. Lunches will be provided. The grant to the students eligible, will be provided only after the school attendance. Further information about the grant will be given to the students selected. Users which have submitted a PRACE preparatory access application requesting the EURORA prototype are invited to attend the school. Please note that a sound knowledge of C, C++ or Fortran and MPI parallel programming is a pre-requisite for this course. Attendance is limited to 24 places, and selection of participants will be based on demonstrated understanding of computational science and high-performance computing and experience with at least one of MPI, OpenMP, or multi-core programming. Registration closes Friday June 14th, 2013, but we encourage applicants to apply as early as possible. Candidates will be informed of the results of their application by June 25th, 2013..
note: The admitted students will be contacted by email for confirmation of attendance. We are happy to comunicate that we were able to extend the number of admitted students to 34.
