Travel & Practical Information

Travel to Porto
Porto is quite an accessible city with regular flights from all over Europe, including low-cost carriers. The main airline carrier servicing Porto is TAP. As citizens of the European Union and European Economic Area, you will not need a visa to enter Portugal.

Arriving at Porto International Airport (OPO)

Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) is located 8 miles (13 km) to the north of Porto, in the locality of Maia

You can easily get to the airport or to the city centre by metro. Line E (Purple) runs every 20 or 30 minutes, depending on the time and day of the week. The price of a one-way ticket is €1.85.

Visit www.metrodoporto.pt for the map of the network and additional information.

Several busses connect Porto Airport and the city centre. The most useful are 601, 602 and 604. Nevertheless, the ride to the centre costs as much as the metro and takes a lot longer. STCP and Resende provide bus connections from the airport to various areas of the city.

Taxis circulate 24/7 all throughout the city, and are always available at taxi ranks. If you prefer, you can order a taxi by phone. The journey between the airport and a centrally located accommodation costs approximately €25 to €30
